Let’s get started.
Best Gaming Laptops under 1500 dollars to buy in 2019
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is one of the affordable yet powerful gaming laptops you can find on the market right now. Acer has offered very powerful features at the price of a mid-range gaming laptop with few compromises.
Most of the gaming laptop on this list costs over $1000 but this powerful machine will costs you exactly $1k from your pocket. Let’s dive into deep to know about this laptop. This laptop would be also perfectly suitable for professions who depends mostly on computers like Data Scientist
This is a 15.6′ inch 60Hz IPS display which has great viewing angles and good color reproduction. This may not be the best display to play games on but it is decent enough to play games for sure. Just to remind you that this laptop doesn’t support G-Sync so keep this in mind. For those of you who don’t know about G-Sync, it helps to eliminate screen tearing while playing games (Read more on Wikipedia)
The front of the laptop is made of metal (except the strip on top) while the bottom is made of plastic.
The build quality of the laptop is good considering its price and there is nothing much to complain here.
This Acer Predator comes with 256GB M.2 SATA SSD which is slightly slower than an NVMe SSD but you can replace the M.2 SSD with an NVMe by spending a little over $100. This Samsung 960 EVO is a recommended who are looking to get one.
When it comes to performance this laptop is a beast. There are 2 8GB DIMM available on the back of the laptop which is upgradable up to 32GB RAM. But in my opinion, the 16GB RAM is good enough for a mid-range gaming machine.
The CPU inside the laptop comes with Intel Core i7-7700HQ. The maximum clock speed of the processor is 3.8GHz which is more than enough to perform daily tasks such as browsing, MS word/ excel, and online streaming. Based on the CrystalDiskMark, the read speed of the laptop is 532MB where the write speed 437MB.
Here comes the most important and interesting part which you are waiting for i.e GPU and gaming performance.
At the beginning, I have mentioned that Acer has provided some premium things on the laptop and i.e GeForce GTX 1060 6GB DDR5 RAM. There are lots of laptops out there which costs way over but it doesn’t offer GTX 1060 in it. This is a nice work done by Acer.
As expected, there are no issues while playing most of the games on this laptop. You can expect the desktop level experience in GTX 1060 because this graphics card was initially built for desktop and later it was adopted for the laptops in late 2016.
In the real world performance, Here are the frame rates of these 3 popular games.
1. Overwatch = 80-90 FPS average (Ultra settings)
2. Doom= 70 FPS average (Ultra settings)
3. A rise of the Tomb Raider= 88 FPS average (High settings)
4. League of Legends= 60 FPS (High settings)
5. World of Warcraft= 60 FPS (High settings)
If you want more practical examples of the gaming performance of this laptop, Check out this video by TechDeals. He has tested 14 games to show the capability of the laptop.
Finally the battery life.
As you may know already, a gaming laptop doesn’t have the best battery life in most of the cases and this laptop also falls under that category. Without playing any games, you can expect up to 4 hours of battery life and for game lovers, you can expect around 1.5- 2 hours of battery life.
If you want more info about the laptop to check out the below by Matthew Moniz.
2. Acer Aspire VX 15
There are various options available on the market for a good gaming laptop under 1500 dollars but the Acer Aspire VX 15 really stands out from the crowd because it offers a lot of premium things costs under $1100. And I have no doubt that this is one of the best gaming laptops under $1100 which you’ll get on the market right now.
Initially, when this laptop was launched it cost $1000 but now for some reason, the price has increased slightly i.e extra $88. Just to remind you that this laptop is an Amazon’s Choice product.
I’m assuming that the slight increase in the price is due to high demands of the product but I can ensure you that you’ll not regret after choosing this laptop.
This is 15.6 Inch IPS display which has very good viewing angles and color accuracy. The color accuracy should have been better but it’s not very bad either. You’ll not have any issues while playing games or videos with this display.
The build quality of the laptop is not bad for this pricing. It’s fully made of plastic and at the first glance, the top of laptop would look like its a brushed metal but it is not. Everything is build of plastic on this device. (See below image)
It has a nice gaming look into it and the 2 red stripes on top make it more attractive. Not to forget, the build of the laptop doesn’t feel cheap and it is very rigid.
You’ll get 256GB SSD storage on the laptop and 16GB DDR4 RAM. Just like the Helios 300, you can upgrade the RAM up to 32GB but I would say it performs amazingly fast with the 16GB itself. There is a slot available to add an HDD for people who want it. But the good thing is, you don’t to pay anything. You just need to contact Acer and they’ll deliver it to you for FREE.
This laptop has the same CPU which the Acer Predator Helios 300 i.e Intel Core i7-7700HQ. In fact, out of 8 laptops on this list, 6 of them has the same CPU. The reason why I chose this processor is simple. It’s very powerful and for a budget of $1000+, a laptop should have more than an average performing processor and that what it is.
Now coming to the main purpose of this laptop i.e Gaming. It has GTX 1050Ti 4GB RAM which is capable of playing almost all the games at medium to high settings. The fire strike score of the laptop is 6595. It handles most of the games smoothly and you’ll be surprised to see the amazing performance of this budget gaming laptop.
Below are the average frame rates of some popular games played on this laptop.
1. League of legends= 120 FPS (on High settings)
2. Overwatch= 87 FPS (Ultra settings)
3. Witcher 3= 59 FPS (High settings)
4. Batman: Arkham Knight= 64 FPS (High settings)
5. Doom= 67 FPS (Ultra settings)
While playing games or videos, it doesn’t get heat a lot. The dual fan cooling system helps to keep the laptop maintain the heat without getting over-heated and speakers get loud enough for a gaming machine.
The Acer Aspire VX 15 is slightly lightweight than the above Helios 300 and it weighs 5.5 pounds. Well, it may not be a perfectly portable laptop but it is fairly portable I would say.
The ports selection of the laptop is fine. 3 USB 2.0, 1 USB Type-C (Not Thunderbolt) and an SD card slot. Instead of 3 USB A, Acer should have considered giving 1 USB 3.0 but it is not a deal breaker I think.
One main thing before we talk about the final part is the Keyboard. The key distance is very good and it has 1 level of backlit which could be very helpful while playing games at night.
And as usual, the average battery life on this laptop is 3 hours and you should at least half of the time while playing games.

This is an updated or you can say the latest addition to one of the Asus gaming series which was launched in early 2017. There are lots of changes have been made in ASUS ROG Strix GL753 compared to the older model i.e ASUS ROG Strix GL752. Now I’m going to talk about these 2 laptops in detail and explain to you why this laptop is a good choice for gamers under $1500.
Just like the previous gen, this laptop comes in two different screen sizes i.e 17.3″ inch and 15.6 Inch”. You should choose your preferred screen size because there are not a lot of hardware differences between these two models. But here I’m going to focus on the 17-inch model.
The top of the laptop is made of Aluminium and the rest of the body is made of plastic. The build quality is good and if you have bored with the black and red combination in gaming laptops, then don’t worry this laptop has a new combination i.e Black on orange.
Both laptops have 1080P display and have good contrast and viewing angles. When it comes to color accuracy, this laptop fails in this category. It is good enough to play games but it doesn’t provide the best out of them. And just to let you know, this laptop also doesn’t have the G-sync technology.
For the price of $1300, you’ll be getting 1TB 5400 RPM HDD, 256GB SSD, and 16GB DDR4 memory. I wish Asus should have provided at least 7200 RPM HDD. The SSD inside the laptop is a SATA3 SSD. If you want faster performance, everything is upgradable on this laptop.
Here is the score of the Crystal Disk Mark tested on this laptop (Source).
Read speed= 478 MB
Write speed= 469 MB
Read speed= 111 MB
Write speed= 106 MB
Pretty good write and speed right? But what about Gaming?
For gaming, this laptop has the same GPU as the above Acer Aspire VX 15 i.e GTX 1050Ti which is a nice improvement from the older gen i.e GTX 960M. The 3D fire stroke score of the laptop 6707 which is slightly better than VX 15 but not a big difference though.
In the real world performance, this laptop handles most of the games very well and the average frame rates are quite good.
Here are the average FPS of these 5 popular games tested on this laptop.
1. Overwatch = 85 FPS (High settings)
2. Battlefield 1= 55 FPS (High settings)
3. GTA V= 90 FPS (Very high settings)
4. Hitman= 68 FPS (High settings)
5. Rise of the Tomb Raider= 54 FPS (High settings)
The GTX 1050Ti inside the laptop is at least 40% faster than the GTX 960M.
Apart from gaming, there are few other good things to notice on this laptop. It has 1 USB Type-C connector, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, Ethernet and a headphone jack.
There is also an SD card slot on the front of the laptop and not to forget, there is an optical drive on this laptop too. Most of the people aren’t happy with the inclusion of optical drive on this laptop and I’m assuming you are one of them too because the majority of people don’t care about the optical drive in 2019.
Another major thing to notice on the laptop is Keyboard. It has a travel distance of 2.5mm which is very tactile and the easy to type on. The keyboard has now customized RGB and you can change the color however you want using the Asus’s software.
Finally the Battery life. Without playing any games and using the laptop at 50% brightness, the laptop can last up to 4-5 hours and while playing it can last up 2 hours.
4. Dell Inspiron i5577
We all know Dell is one of the top brands in the world and they make high-quality products for a reasonable price. This laptop is another masterpiece from Dell which manages to live the expectations of an average gamer.
Yes, You read it right. This laptop may not be as powerful as the above laptops but still, it is a solid deal for a top gaming laptop under $1000. If you are an average gamer and looking to get a top gaming laptop under $1500, you can choose this one and save more than $500 from your wallet.
Just like few any other laptops on this list, this laptop also features 15.6′ inch screen but it has a TN panel instead of IPS. Many people aren’t happy with a TN panel but this one has a decent display for its price. The matte screen helps to prevent the reflection while using the laptop outdoors. The laptop is made of soft plastic but it doesn’t feel cheap though.
When it comes to storage options, there are lots of variants available for this laptop on Amazon. But I would suggest you go the highest variant i.e 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM and don’t worry It would still cost you under $1k.
The performance of the laptop is extremely fast and boots up the system in less than 10 seconds. Pretty awesome right? And for gaming, it features GTX 1050 4GB RAM which is good enough to play modern games on medium-high settings.
Here the scores of real-world gaming performance of this laptop.
1. Battlefield 1= 50-60 FPS (Medium settings)
2. Skyrim= 36 FPS (Ultra settings)
3. World of Warcraft= 70-100 FPS (High settings)
Apart from gaming, this laptop is capable of doing lightweight video/ photo editing. So if you are into that stuff, this laptop is surely a good investment for you.
Just like most gaming laptops, this laptop is also neither lightweight nor portable. It weighs 2.5 kg (5.6 lbs). It won’t be easy to carry around with one hand but a laptop back can help you on the go.
There are 3 USB 3.1 available on this laptop and 1 of them is Thunderbolt. Its worth noting that Dell has managed to offer Thunderbolt in a mid-range gaming laptop while some other brands don’t offer it even after charging a big amount. If you are a fan of a backlit keyboard, this laptop has them.
The battery life on this laptop is quite extraordinary. When you are not playing any games and surfing the web or streaming videos, you can expect the battery to last around 5-7 hours which is more than the above laptops. While playing games, the battery can last up to 2-3 hours which is decent in my opinion.
5. ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501VW-DS71T
The Asus Zenbook UX501VW-DS71T is actually not the latest laptop out there but it is one of the best Asus gaming laptops under $1500 and most of the gamers are satisfied with this amazing laptop.
The first thing you’ll notice after getting this laptop is the build quality. The entire laptop is made of Aluminium and it feels premium in the first glance itself. If you aren’t a fan of plastic build in laptops which I have talked about in the above laptops, then you’ll surely love this Aluminium build laptop.
Another great thing about this laptop is the Display. It has 15.6 inch IPS Panel which is 4K and supports touch too. Well, Practically most of the gamers may not use the touch screen in their gaming but If you aren’t one of them then this laptop has a touchscreen. When you touch the screen, it moves more than it should which isn’t a nice thing though.
There are no issues in viewing angles or color accuracy at all. But the thing which concerns me is the thick large bezels. Specs and price, it matches the older Dell XPS 15 which was launched around the same time. But I chose the Zenbook over XPS 15 for gaming performance.
If you want an average gaming laptop with few bezels then the XPS 15 could be a better choice for you.
When it comes to storage, it comes with 512GB NVMe SSD which is good enough to store data and play games. Unfortunately, you can’t upgrade the storage on this laptop but the 512GB would be enough for most of the people. The read speed of the internal SSD is 1100 MB+ and write speed is 400 MB+ on average.
The 16GB DDR4 memory along with Intel Core i7 6700HQ would be more than sufficient to perform daily tasks without any trouble. This is one of two laptops on this list which has slightly older CPU but it is not that bad either.
Coming to the gaming part, it doesn’t have the latest GPU because this is a slightly old laptop as I said before. It has Nvidia’s GTX 960M dedicated graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 RAM.
Here are the framerates per seconds(FPS) of two popular games played on this machine.
1. League of legends= 60 FPS (Max. settings)
2. Dying light= 60 FPS (Medium settings)
Obviously, it can’t all the modern games like some of the above laptops but it can play average demanding at 1080P which isn’t very bad I would say. This laptop is also capable of doing some heavy tasks such as 4k video editing, Photoshop and more. The above Dell laptop isn’t capable of doing such heavy tasks but this laptop can.
This laptop has a handful of ports such as 3 USB 3.0, HDMI, USB Type-c Thunderbolt 3 and an SD card reader. Audio by Icepower is very loud and clear and the 3 levels of the backlight in the keyboard are amazing.
Asus claims the battery can last up to 6 hours and in the real world test, that’s nearly the same case. You can expect around 5.5-6 hours of average usage (without playing games) and when you play games, you can expect up to 3-3.5 hours of battery life.
6. MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-469
For those of you who don’t know about the MSI brand, I think you would be new to the gaming world. There is nothing wrong with not knowing about MSI brand, I’m just assuming that you are trying to buy a gaming laptop for the first time.
Let me give you a brief introduction to the MSI.
MSI is an international IT brands from Taiwan which builds computers, laptops, computer hardware and it is one of the top brands in the gaming world. MSI is ranked 7th by Laptopmag for its overall performance.
Okay. Now let’s talk about this amazing machine. The display not very different from others. It has the same 15.6 inch IPS display with a matte finish and the viewing angles/ color accuracy are perfect for a gaming laptop. The top and bottom panel of the laptop are Aluminium and the rest of the body is made out of plastic.
There are lots of variants available for this laptop. If you want the higher variant, you’ll need to a lot more than your budget But I would suggest you go for this one which will cost around 1500 dollars because that’s what this post is about right?
You can install software and games on the 128GGB SSD and the rest of them, you can store on the 1TB hard drive. Both SSD and HDD are upgradeable but you need need to be professional to access the SSD because it’s very not easy to access it. The 16GB DDR4 memory and Skylake processor ensure that you don’t get into any trouble while performing any daily tasks.
The GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 RAM can take your gaming experience to a different level.
Here how these 4 games played on this machine.
1. Overwatch= 95 FPS (High settings)
2. Doom= 75 FPS (Ultra settings)
3. Fallout 4= 60 FPS (Ultra settings)
4. GTA V= 40-50 FPS (Ultra settings)
3 fans allowed for this laptop which keeps the laptop pretty much while playing and pushing CPU, GPU to the max. And another major thing to be noted here is, just like above Zenbook this laptop is also capable of editing HD videos with ease.
Dave2D has edited his amazing review video of this laptop on this very same machine. Take a look below.
Video Credits: Dave2D
Have you seen the video? I’m assuming you did. This guy makes only High-Quality videos and the video which was edited on this MSI laptop is no different from others. Even If you are a Programmer or Developer, this laptop could be a good choice for you.
One of the biggest difference this laptop has from other laptops on this list is, its lightweight and slim. Yes, you head it right. It’s pretty rare to find a lightweight gaming laptop on the market and I have to say that MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-469 is one of them.
Its only 17.7 mm thin and 4 pounds (1.8 kg) in weight. Many people would still complain that this isn’t a lightweight but in my opinion, 4 pounds is an ideal weight for a portable gaming laptop.
Thunderbolt port is also available on this laptop and the keyboard with RGB customizations works pretty well. The trackpad isn’t very great though. Most people who buy this laptop is probably going to purchase an external mouse for gaming but if you aren’t of them, keep this in mind that it has an average quality trackpad.
The 65 watthour battery takes 2 hours to completely charge the battery and last for 3.5-4 hours for average usage. For gaming, it lasts around 2 hours like many other laptops here.
7. Asus FX502VM-AS73
As we all know Asus is one of the top brands in the world which makes high-quality gaming laptop and this FX502VM-AS73 is not very different from other gaming laptops from Asus. I have reviewed the older version of this laptop at HuntLaptop i.e Asus fx502vm, check it out if you are interested.
It features 15.6 Inch display which is good still many people have criticized the screen quality. But Jordon has confirmed the screen quality is Okay to play games on.
The 1TB HDD which comes with the laptop is quite slow because it is 5400 RPM and that’s where the 128GB SSD becomes handy. I would recommend you to install games on an SSD to load everything faster rather than slower HDD. Both memory options are options are upgradeable.
For basic and everyday tasks, the 16GB DDR4 RAM and the Skylake Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor will help you out. The combination of these two is capable of doing very powerful tasks I have just given you a minor example as “basic task”.
For gamers, there is a dedicated GTX 1060 3GB RAM which is good enough to play games at high settings. Well, it may not as powerful as the above laptop because this one has only 3GB RAM but keep in mind that there is at least $400 difference in the pricing between those two laptops.
The 3D fire stroke score of this laptop is 9565 and here’s how these 4 games played on this laptop.
1. War Hammer= 70 FPS (Ultra settings)
2. War Thunder= 100+ FPS (High settings)
3. Overwatch= 120 FPS (Ultra settings)
4. Battlefield 1= 80 FPS (Ultra settings)
The FX502VM-AS73 is not very heavy like many other gaming laptops. It weighs 4.9 pounds (2.2kg) which isn’t exactly a lightweight machine but you can carry it on the go when you want to. If you are a teacher who loves to play games in their free time, you can make use of this laptop. By the way, I have written a separate post for teachers, If you are interested, you can read it.
There are 3 USB 3.0’s available on this machine and one major drawback I want to tell you about this laptop is, it has a bad mousepad. If you are a gamer who doesn’t care about the mousepad, then you won’t have any issues. But for those depend on a mousepad a lot, then you’ll need an external mouse for this laptop.
The speakers on this laptop are mediocre and when it comes to battery life, there are no surprises at all. You’ll get 3 hours of the screen time for minimal usage and 1.5 hours max. while gaming.
8. Eluktronics P650HP6
I know most of the people would hearing this name for the first because this isn’t a popular company like Dell, Asus or Acer. Eluktronics is a small company which is making quality products for a reasonable price.
Most of the people would hesitate to go for this laptop because of the new brand but trust me, you’ll not regret it for choosing this. It has 4.6 ratings out of 5 on Amazon which is rated by 200+ satisfied customers. Not every product on Amazon gets such ratings without having a high-quality product. Just bear with me for few moments, I’ll explain some pretty amazing thins about this laptop.
Currently, there are 12 variants available for this laptop on Amazon But I would suggest you for this one because it is cheap and one of the best gaming laptop you’ll get under $1400.
The 15.6 Inch IPS panel is pretty gorgeous and it is a matte finish. The quality of the laptop justifies its pricing and there are no issues at all. One of the best things about this laptop is, it doesn’t have a lot of bloatware installed and comes clean. If you have ever got irritated by bloatware on a newly purchased laptop, then you don’t have to face to issue on this laptop.
Just like most of the laptops, this one also comes with 16GB DDR4 RAM paired with Skylake Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and everything runs smoothly without causing any issues. For the storage, it has 256GB SSD which is good enough to store applications and 1TB HDD is also available to store rest of the files.
For Gaming, it has the powerful GTX 1060 6GB dedicated graphics card which will surely live up to your expectations when it comes to performance. It handles most of the games in high settings at constant 60FPS. The 3DMark Fire Strike score of the laptop is 11203 and here are performance results of 2 games tested on this laptop.
1. Shadow of Mordor= 100+ FPS (Max. settings)
2. Witcher 3= 60 FPS (Max set)
Another good thing about this laptop is, it has a backlit keyboard too. By default, it has blue light but you can customize it as per your choice in the settings. When you push the laptop to an extreme level, it doesn’t much louder which is a good thing.
Keep in mind that this isn’t a lightweight laptop because It weighs 5.9 lbs (2.67 kg) and it won’t be easy to carry it on the go.
And finally, the battery life. As a regular mid-range gaming laptop, you can expect 4-5 hours of browsing, online streaming and 1.5-2 hours of gaming.
If you are thinking to get top gaming laptop under 1500 dollars, I must say that this is one of the best options for you.
If you are looking to get a gaming laptop under $1500 which is worth spending money these are the 8 solid options you. Although there are few more options available on the market I have added only best options here for you and ignored some options to save you from getting trouble.
If I have to choose the best gaming laptop from this list, I would definitely for the Acer Predator Helios 300 because it has the powerful GTX 1060 6GB graphics and comes under $1000.
So yeah, that’s my choice. What do you think? Which is the best gaming laptop under 1500 dollars? Let me your choices in the comments below. It’ll great to hear from you.
