Are you a Real estate agent looking to get a lightweight and powerful laptop to carry with yourself?
If YES is your answer, then I’m going to show you exactly what you have in your mind.
There are so many tools you may need to run on your laptop and you would need a laptop with decent specs. If you have problems finding the right laptop for you, I’m here to help you now.
I have researched and made the list of 7 good laptops for any real estate agents and realtors which can make job/ business a lot easier.
Most of the laptops which I’m going to show you are lightweight whereas some of them are not. But every laptop on this list is powerful and can perform beyond your expectations.
Without further ado, Let’s get started.
Top 7 Laptops for real estate agents and realtors
1. Microsoft Surface Pro 4
This is a 2-in-1 touchscreen Laptop which means you can either use it as a tablet or a laptop as per your situation. The body of the laptop is made of magnesium casing and it really feels premium.
It comes with 12.3 PixelSense display with the resolution of 2736 x1824. The PPI of the display is 267. The display is good to browse and take regular notes but it isn’t the best display to watch videos. If you are getting a laptop for both work and entertainment (watching videos), then this may not the right choice for you.
Microsoft has offered a kickstand on the back so that you can view the display from any angle. If you are using the Surface Pro in outdoors discussing with a client, then you can quickly show notes or take notes by quickly opening the kickstand.
One of the thing which I personally didn’t like about this device is, you need to buy a typeover separately. The device itself costs around $1000 and the type cover costs nearly $100 which makes the total costs of the laptop $1100. Both the keyboard and glass trackpad works exceptionally well but you should think twice about your budget before buying this device.
The included Pen in the Surface Pro works fine and if you are into drawing, then it’ll be a really helpful tool for you. Do note that the Surface Pro doesn’t offer pen in their latest models and you need to buy it separately just like the type cover. That’s the reason I’m recommending the Surface Pro 4 which comes with Pen.
When it comes to storage, it has 256GB SSD along with 8GB RAM. The processor inside this device is 6th Gen Intel Core i5. The laptop performs great and the multi-tasking on this device is not a big deal at all. You can use Google Chrome, Photoshop, and multiple software at once without any issues.
The read speed of the laptop is 608 MB whereas the write speed is 113 MB. Apart from general usage, you can play some casual games at a decent frame rate.
and finally, the Battery life.
If you are a lightweight user who doesn’t play games, then you can easily expect 5-6 hours of battery life on a single charge. If you a heavy user who plays games and uses heavy software, then you can expect around 2 hours of battery life.

2. ASUS C201
Don’t have the budget of $500, $400 or even $300?
No Problem. The Asus C201 is here for you which costs less than $250.
If you aren’t familiar with a Chromebook or Chrome OS, I suggest you watch this quick video to understand what a Chromebook actually is. In short, Chromebook is meant to browse the web, watch videos and use Google apps. You can’t install common software such as MS office on a Chromebook.
Usually, Chromebook is meant for students but I’m suggesting this laptop for a real estate agent because not everyone wants to spend a lot of money just to browse the web.
The laptop is made of plastic but it feels sturdy and well made. It has 11.6 Inch TN panel which has decent color reproduction but poor viewing angles though.
This laptop has 16GB SSD storage which may not be enough for a lot of people but usually, a Chromebook doesn’t come with a larger storage. It comes with 4GB DDR3 RAM which is sufficient to run most of the apps smoothly.
Another unique thing about the laptop is, it comes with Rockchip RK3288 processor instead of any Intel processors. This Rockchip processor is made especially for tablet devices but It also works extremely fast in this Chromebook too.
A laptop which depends mostly on an Internet connection comes with 802.11ac Wireless connectivity. It works perfectly fine and you won’t have to face any drops in your network connectivity.
Just like the above Surface Pro, the Asus C201 is portable and weighs only 2 pounds. If you are a realtor who travels a lot to meet with clients and show them your data from your laptop, then this Chromebook is a good option for you.
The keyboard and trackpad are decent. There is nothing to complain about. The speakers on the bottom of the laptop don’t get very loud. This may be concerning thing for some people out there.
One of the great things about this laptop is its Amazing battery life. You can expect at least 10 hours of battery life on Asus C201 which is extraordinary for a laptop which less than $300. But keep in that this is a Chromebook not a Windows or Mac OS laptop.
3. Apple MacBook Pro
If you have a budget between $1000-$1500 and you are used to Apple products such as iPad, iPhone etc then there is no you shouldn’t buy this beautiful and powerful machine for your real estate business.
This is a multi-purpose laptop which can be used for your work, entertainment or any other type of work except HD gaming. Apart from gaming, you can push this laptop to any level and it’ll perform fine.
The MacBook Pro comes with beautiful 13.3-inch Retina display and you’ll be stunned by the display quality of this laptop. The viewing angles are excellent and the color reproduction is top-notch. Without any doubt, this is one of the best display you’ll get your hands on right now.
The model which I’m talking costs around $1400 which comes with touch-bar. There are few other models available on Amazon which doesn’t come with touch-bar. It could cost you less but a touch bar is a nice feature to have on a MacBook Pro. By using touch bar, you can unlock the laptop, use Apple Pay and a lot more.
It comes with 256GB SSD and 8GB DDR3 RAM. The processor inside the laptop you’ll find is dual-core Intel Core i5. Just like I said before, you don’t need to worry about the performance of this powerful machine because it’ll be way faster than what you would expect.
The Geekbench score for a single core of the laptop is 3849 and the multi-core score is 7272. If you are a Windows user and thinking to get this laptop, don’t hesitate too much because you’ll really enjoy the smooth performance of Mac OS.
There are 4 Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C) has offered on this laptop but there are few important missing such as mini display port and SD card reader. This is a big disappoint by Apple I would say.
The battery life on the laptop is pretty amazing I would say. From lightweight to moderate usage, you can expect around 8-9 hours and heavy users can expect around 2-3 hours of battery life.
Even though, the MacBook Pro is quite expensive it is one of the best laptop a realtor can buy right now.
4. Huawei MateBook X
Although a realtor may not need a stylish laptop I can’t resist myself from sharing this gorgeous laptop for my readers.
This is neither a cheap nor a budget laptop by any means. This is a premium and well-made laptop by Huawei. Yes, you read it right. Huawei is slowly entering laptop market from mobile devices and they have done pretty amazing stuff by making this laptop.
The body of the MateBook X is made of entirely metal and just I said before, it feels really premium in hands. There are no compromises in the build quality at all.
The MateBook comes with a 13.3-inch display with the resolution of 2160×440 and extremely thin bezels.
Only the gorgeous look of the laptop will insist you to buy this laptop. Take a look yourself.
The display of the laptop is protected by Gorilla Glass which is a nice thing to have on a premium laptop.
The PPI (Pixels Per Inch) of this display in 200 and it has the sRGB ratings of 100%.
Note: This isn’t a touchscreen laptop. There is another model in MateBook series which comes with touch i.e MateBook E.
There are 2 variants of this laptop available right now.
The one which I’m talking about right now comes with Intel Core i7, 512GB SSD storage, and 8GB DDR3 RAM. If you are a power user, I would suggest you to this one. It would cost you around $1000 which is totally worth it in my opinion.
Another model comes with Core i5, 256GB SSD, and 8GB DDR3 RAM. This is suitable for basic to moderate users. This variant would cost you around $800. If you don’t have a $1k budget, probably you should get this one.
You can also do some lightweight gaming on a machine with the integrated Intel HD 620 Graphics card and you can also do some lightweight video editing but you can’t edit HD videos on this laptop.
Another great thing about this laptop which I personally like is, it weighs only 2.3 pounds (1.04 kg). I know there are already many lightweight laptops on this list and that’s because a realtor needs to carry a laptop with them most of the time and they can’t carry a heavy laptop with them all the time.
There are 2 USB Type-C’s offered on this laptop. One on the left side and the other on the right side. I know this is not enough for most of the people but fortunately, Huawei has decided to offer MateDock 2.0 which includes USB-A port, USB-C port, HDMI port and VGA port. The MateDock comes free out of the box and you don’t need to pay anything at all.
The Huawei MateBook comes with Dolby Atmos which produces very loud noise and I’m pretty sure that you’ll be pleased with the audio quality of those amazing dual speakers.
Huawei has offered a fingerprint reader in the place of power button itself. It works very fast and they have cleverly placed it for a reason.
And lastly, the battery life.
A powerful machine doesn’t always have a good battery life. But the Huawei MateBook X has a decent battery life of 6-7 hours. It isn’t the best in terms of battery life, but it not terrible too.
Overall, this is a top laptop for any real estate agents/ realtors without any doubt.
You can also read the full review of Huawei MateBook X in WindowsCentral or you can watch their video below to know more.
5. Dell XPS 15 Touch
If you don’t care a lot about the budget and want only the best laptop out there, the Dell XPS 15 could be your next laptop.
Not only for a realtor, this laptop is perfectly suitable for almost everyone including a hardcore gamer and I’ll tell why.
The XPS 15 comes beautiful infinity display and it has fewer bezels around the top and corner of the display which makes the laptop attractive and unique. This is one of the few laptops on the market which has few bezels in their displays.
Here I’m suggesting a 4k touchscreen variant because a real estate agent can quickly show the objects or materials to the client or buyer instead of using a trackpad. There is also a non-touch version of this laptop available on Amazon. You can opt for that If you don’t need a touchscreen laptop.
The storage on this machine is 512GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 RAM with Intel Core i7-7700HQ. The SSD which comes with this laptop is Samsung PM961 which perform very smoothly and boots up the system very quickly.
When it comes to gaming, this laptop comes with GTX 1050 4GB RAM which is an upgrade from GTX 960m GPU. You can almost play any game at decent frame rates without lowering the resolution.
Here the frame rates of 3 popular games,
1. fallout 4= 55 FPS (high settings)
2. GTA 5= 60-70 FPS (high settings)
3. Gears of war 4= 60 FPS (Medium settings)
The major concern about this laptop is, it gets too noisy while playing some high demanding games. So keep this in mind.
Compared to some other laptops on this list, the XPS 15 is slightly heavy. It weighs 3.9 pounds (1.7 kg). This is still a fairly portable laptop in my opinion.
There are 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C (Thunderbolt), HDMI and full-size SD card reader offered on this laptop which is decent port selection I would say. The keyboard on this laptop has backlit which will be useful while using the laptop in the night.
The battery life of 6 hours for a powerful laptop like this is very good I would say. If you opt for non-touch version, you’ll surely get 2-3 hours more battery life.
6. HP Spectre x360-13t
This is the 2nd 2-in-1 convertible laptop on this list and this is also coming from a reputed brand like HP.
This is a flagship laptop from HP which will cost you around $1400 and I must say it’s worth considering because it does provide value for its money. There are lots of convertible laptops available in the market but this HP Spectre really stands out from them.
This has the 1080P display which has good color contrast and viewing angles. You won’t be disappointed with that. It has the sRGB rating of 95% and Adobe RGB rating of 72%. HP is offering free Stylus (Pen) with this laptop, unlike Surface Pro where you have to buy it separately in their newer models.
Just like the above Huawei MateBook X, the HP Spectre x360 also comes with Corning Gorilla glass protection which is always a nice thing to have on any laptop.
As the name speaks itself, x360 can be used at any angle such as a standard laptop mode, tablet mode etc. The included stylus may not be as accurate as the Surface Pro but it is better to have something rather than nothing.
The 512GB SSD will be more than enough for most people and 16GB DDR3 RAM helps to easily perform any kind of multitasking. The RAM on the system is soldered so you can’t upgrade it but you can upgrade the SSD if you want.
One of the best thing about the Spectre is, it comes with Intel’s newest 8th Gen Core i7 processor i.e Intel Core i7-8550U which has greater speed than its old processor.
The USB ports available on this machine are 2 USB Type-C (Thunderbolt), 1 USB 3.1, Micro SD slot and there is a fingerprint reader on the right side of this laptop. The fingerprint reader isn’t accurate as it should be and I think that’s of its unusual positioning.
The laptop weighs 2.8 lbs (1.27 kg) which makes it one of stylish and lightweight laptop for a real estate agent who moves a lot from one place to the others.
The chicklet keyboard works fine and it does have backlit. The trackpad on this laptop also does well but it is quite wide in my opinion. There are 4 Bang & Olufsen speakers offered here, two on the top and two on the bottom. The speakers aren’t great but it is decent for a 2-in-1 laptop.
The 8 hours of battery life on this convertible laptop is very good in my opinion. If you are carrying this laptop along with you while traveling, you don’t to worry about the charging for a full working day.
7. ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH55
The last laptop on this list is an ultrabook from Asus called ZenBook UX330UA-AH55.
It weighs only 2.6 pounds (1.18 kg) and easy to carry without any bag. I know there are lots of amazing lightweight laptops on this list here but this is the cheapest one among them.
The display is 13.3 inches FHD panel and the brightness of the display is reasonably well but the viewing angles aren’t so great. You may not be able to see the objects of the display clearly in outdoors.
The performance on this machine is great and it comes with 8GB DRR3 RAM which isn’t upgradeable just like the above HP Spectre. But you can upgrade the M.2 SATA SSD if the 256GB isn’t good enough for you. The read and write speed of the SSD of this machine is 530 and 504 respectively which isn’t bad at all I would say.
There are 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, full-size SD card slot and mini-HDMI offered on this laptop. There is also a fingerprint scanner offered in the corner of the trackpad which is accurate and works pretty fine. The keyboard of this laptop has 3 levels of brightness in the backlit.
Apart from lightweight and performance, the main highlight of this laptop is its Battery life. The Zenbook can last up to 12 hours with a single charge. Yes, you read it. This is the best laptop on this list in terms of Battery life. If your top preference is battery life, then you should definitely go for this amazing laptop.
Laptop Buying Guide For Real Estate Agents and Realtors:
There are thousands of laptops available in the market and it is pretty hard to read the specs and choose a laptop by yourself. That’s why I have made a short list of important specs every real estate agent should look before buying any laptop.
1. Portability: No matter what, the majority of the real estate agents will be spending their time by traveling, going to coffee shops for a meeting etc and that’s why Portability should be the top priority of every real estate agent. Apart from the Dell XPS 15, every laptop on this list is pretty much lightweight and you can choose any of them.
2. Battery life: If you are using the laptop indoors, you can plug-in the charger anytime when the battery goes down But what about using the laptop while traveling or any other outdoor spots? You need to buy a laptop which should last at least 5 hours and every laptop on this list has more than 5 hours of battery life.
3. Storage/ RAM/ CPU:
A realtor can easily do his/ her job with a 256GB storage. But If you are getting it for both professional and personal purposes, you can go for either 512GB or 1TB storage. Remember, You should buy only SSD storage type laptops and not HDD. I won’t recommend laptops with HDD for any realtors out there.
Although I have recommended 16GB laptops here, an 8GB laptop would be enough for many basic users. If you are a power user who does video/image editing kind of stuff, then I would recommend the 16GB laptops. Don’t go below 8GB because you may face some performance issue while doing some important tasks.
You can go for Intel’s Core i5 processor If you want only decent performance such as browsing, MS Office etc. If you are doing even more powerful tasks, then you should definitely go for a core i7 laptop which I have mentioned above. Don’t go for any core i3 processor laptop unless you are ready to face any performance issues.
4. Screen Size: A 13-inch laptop would be fine for agents who are mostly on the go. If you think 13-inch is slightly big for you, then you can go for 12-inch laptops like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. I won’t recommend a 17-inch laptop for a profession like realtors.
A powerful tool like a Laptop could be very helpful for any real estate agents out there and you should invest your money wisely before getting it for yourself.
If you have landed here on the search for the best laptops for real estate agents or realtors, then I’m pretty sure you may find your perfect choice till now. What do you think of these 7 laptops? Do have a suggestion to add here? Do let me know in the comments sections.
